Hello Friends! August has slipped away through my fingertips at breakneck speed. Can anyone relate? Here we are at the end of the month already. Summer is over, logistically if not astronomically. I have spent the month working very hard on my property and on moving out of the studio that I’ve had for over a decade above what used to be the Green Drake Art Gallery. It has been a monumental task, as I have entirely too much stuff. With the September 1st moving-out deadline looming ahead of me, we prioritized finishing the upstairs studio at my new house, so that I could move some things directly there. Anything I need that is related to my teaching I’m moving into another rented studio in Millheim for just one year, and I think everything will be ready for me to move into my house and studio next summer. It is unfortunately timing that I had to move out now and thus have to move twice, but so it goes! This hurry to finish the studio area of my house means that it is way ahead of everything else. It is so exciting to do finish work and see finished space! I’m learning how to hang drywall, how to apply tape and spackle, and how to install trim work (around windows and doors, baseboards, and ceilings). The best part is that some of the work is in my comfort zone with painting walls and trim, right now I am in the process of choosing colors for rooms… a project I take very seriously as you might imagine! For this months newsletter, I will show you some images of my brand new studio! I have a lot of images of all the stages, so I will leave it at that. I discovered lots of cool things during my move this month.
